What is LED Solar Traffic Light?

A solar flasher, also known as an “LED Flasher,” “Fog Light,” “Synchronized Flasher,” “Solar Signal Head,” “Solar Signaling Device,” “Single Flasher,” or “Single Signal Head,” operates using solar energy, which includes a solar panel and batteries. It utilizes LEDs or high-power LEDs as its light source and functions independently of the electrical grid. Designed for continuous operation, a solar flasher can work around the clock and is straightforward to install due to its reliance on solar power rather than electrical connections.

The device is activated by a button located on its base once mounted on a traffic signal pole or other appropriate location. Because it operates on solar energy, it eliminates the need for extensive infrastructure or cabling. The battery is housed within the solar flasher itself, and the solar panel is attached, so there’s no need for additional installation.

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, solar flashers should be positioned in sunlit areas and avoided in shaded locations. The angle of the solar panel should be adjusted to capture the maximum sunlight. Regular maintenance and internal checks should be performed at least annually. The selection of solar panels and batteries should be based on the local sunlight conditions, with options like 10W or 20W solar panels and 7 Ah or 18 Ah batteries. The solar panels must meet IEC 61215 certification standards, and the batteries should be TS 1352 (TSE) certified. The housing of the solar flasher is made from 100% PC material and must have an IP 55 rating to withstand outdoor conditions. The outer transparent glass should also be made of PC material. The internal charge regulator and control card are designed to properly charge the battery and adjust the flash speed. Solar flashers come with red or yellow LEDs, and can use either power LEDs or 10mm LEDs. The components used in solar flashers should be of high quality and certified to ensure durability. They typically come with a 2-year warranty.

Different types and sizes of solar flashers are available to suit various applications. For example, 300 mm (12-inch) diameter flashers are commonly used on multi-lane roads, at the entrances of tunnels and bridges, at dangerous curves, high-speed areas, and before signalized intersections to provide warnings. In contrast, 200 mm (8-inch) diameter flashers are suitable for use in factories, universities, campuses, near schools and hospitals, traffic training parks for children, and other areas with lower driving speeds.
